If you read my Mango Avocado smoothie recipe, you know that I’m a fan of green smoothies. I will choose (homemade) smoothies over juice all day. And this one is VERY green 😁 And by that I mean all the green veggies are in it. Which is why this is my big green smoothie.
I do know that big green smoothies aren’t everyone’s thing… they taste very, um…. well, green. But the good news is, tehre are plenty of ways to make it more palatable until you get used to drinking green smoothies that aren’t super sweet.
- Add a banana
- Throw in a cup of mango
- Toss in a few dates
- Use coconut water instead of regular water
- Add another apple or pear
I highly recommend drinking a green smoothie most days of the week. Obviously it’s a great source of greens, but the quick and easy digestible source of vitamins, minerals an nutirtnes is great for some many things!
- Improves digestion
- Supports immunity
- Helps promote clear skin
- Great source antioxidants and phytochemicals that reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases
- Huge dose of fiber (almost 10 grams!)
- Improves metabolism and creation of healthy blood cells
- Super hydrating
And really, it’s so easy, there’s no reason not to drink one every day (or at least most days of the week). As with all my smoothies, just toss it in the blender, ya’ll!
Note here, that I HIGHLY recommend doing this in a Vitamix blender to get it perfectly smooth. I have made the mistake of using a regular bender (it was a Ninja and that just wasn’t strong enough) and well, unless you like chewing your smoothies, the Vitamix is just the way to go.
